Welcome to Timothy Baptist Church
where we are "Moving with God's plan"
Timothy Baptist Church was organized in 1880, by the late Rev. Mac Williams in Latanier, Louisiana. The first building was built on the back side of Red River levee. Due to the fact that blacks weren’t allowed to worship God as freely as we are today.
In 1886, the church site was torn down and rebuilt on the front of the levee, using the same lumber from the original church, this move was made possible through faith and many prayers.
In 1962, forty years later, the church site moved again closer to the Latainer Road. Due to the relocation of the Red River levee, the church was built in a T-shape. In 1939, under the leadership of Rev. Welch, Timothy was remodeled. The building was changed from a T-shape to a shotgun style.
In 1956 under the leadership of Rev. R. T Berry, Timothy purchased four (4) lots of our present location (corners of Leland, Ninth and Canal Streets) and moved the shotgun shaped building to this site.
In 1965, Timothy was officially chartered and incorporated. In November 1967, under the leadership of Rev Abe Lowe, the construction was the answer to many of our forefather’s prayers, who have passed away, with faith and prayers from members inspiring to have a better place to worship and dedicate to God.
On May 12, 1968 the first service was held in the present building and a dedication service was held a week later under the leadership of Rev. Mac Williams-Organizer

A parking lot addition has been done to the right of Timothy Baptist Church. Many renovations to the Church structure have been completed. We have had to weather the storms, but we can say through it all we’ve learned to trust and depend on Jesus Christ.
The Disciples Timothy Baptist Church, commit to sharing the goodness of God and the good news of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit that all might become Kingdom minded disciples and live and serve as each has been called, transforming the world.
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
